How much surface area will this cover?

I'm thinking about making a mosaic and wondering how many square inches a gross (144) of tiny tiles will cover. The tiles are square and measure 4.8 mm. When I tried to do the math, I kept getting a different answer every time. Guess I'm getting bogged down in the conversions from square millimeters to square inches. Can anyone figure this out for me?
