There was so much going on back in then, how come nothing is happening right now?

For one thing, Jesus showed up. How come nothing ever goes on these days... nothing but a bunch of hoax(Harold Camping) and fake mosaics. Doesn't God know he needs to keep his events updated in order for him to obtain more adherents?
