What are the best color(s) to dye hair?

i have naturally dirty blonde to brunette hair, my skin is fair/pale and i have hazel to brown eyes if that makes a difference. my hair is also very long if thats important. i want something new to try that won't make me even whiter, but i'm not in with the whole platinum blonde kinda thing. suggestions? thanks.
