King David (if he existed) was a pagan. So was Solomon. Monotheism in that part of the world started (maybe) around 600 BCE. Moses probably didn't exist, and Egypt ruled Canaan at the time he supposedly did (1200 BCE?), so during the "Mosaic age" everyone was a pagan too.
